If you do have knowledge in Adobe Creative Suite products, Sketch, Figma, and developing mobile and web applications, the quicker you will transition from a “Little Guppy” to a Mean Guppy.

During your interview, we will be honest in revealing the types of skills we will work with you to develop. Because of this, designers start in our “Little Guppy” entry-level training and mentorship program where you can develop the skills we require. Mean Guppy design skills far exceed the skills needed for a traditional digital ad, brand, or marketing firm. What makes our firm stand out from others is our expertise in platform design (Salesforce and AEM), footprint audits, design systems, user interface architecture, interaction design, design symbol creation, illustration construction, system tokenization, and interaction storyboarding.

Some fundamental skills that we expect from our designers are UX design, information architecture, experience design, user interface design, and visual design. That being said, it is not likely that even the most senior designers have all of the knowledge that a Mean Guppy designer must to work on our design activities. Mean Guppy operates in a niche discipline that we are known to have pioneered and are seen as a thought leader in for decades. The closer you are to a full-stack Javascript engineer, the less time you will spend in the “Little Guppy” program, and the quicker you will become a Mean Guppy. Mean Guppy caters our training program to your expertise. This program will give you personal time with our own senior engineers, and start you on a set of small projects that will enable you to develop the technical skills we require. We offer a free, sometimes paid, training and mentorship program called the “Little Guppy” program. We are often impressed by interviewees that do not have the traditional technical knowledge other companies require. We value engineers that will play a larger role in developing their skills and are excited to become a Mean Guppy engineer. work ethic and passion for the subject matter. Mean Guppy has a unique hiring and recruiting process that focuses on a candidate’s intangible assets i.e. Mean Guppy rarely hires senior engineers or engineering managers that are expected to contribute to projects when they start at the company.
